NVQ Level III or II (Care), or a willingness to train to NVQ |
Hours of Duty: 37.5 hours per week full time or contracted hours to be
worked flexibly according to the needs of the service. Included are evenings
and some Nights.
2. JOB PURPOSE
The post holders prime responsibility is to assist the client to perform
functions that he or she is unable to perform / needs to develop as a
result of ill health or disability. The post holder would work under the
discreet supervision of The Nursing manager, who is 1st level registered
nurse.

4. CLIENT CARE
• To assist multi disciplinary team (MDT) in the assessment process
by contributing to developing a picture of Client’s needs.
• To assist in the delivery of care as identified in the client's
care plan. At all times reporting observations on progress or deterioration
to the Care Manager / Nursing Manager.
• To contribute to the evaluation and review of Care Plans alongside
the Client as part of the MDT review.
• To develop skills and experience at carrying out delegated duties
in respect of the physical and psychological needs of the Client under
the discreet supervision of the Nurse Manager.
• To respect the Client, carers and representatives being sensitive
at all times to their views and wishes.
• To maintain a safe environment for the Client.
• To assist Client’s where necessary with all aspects of
personal Hygiene.
• To maintain the dignity of the Client at all times and provide
the maximum amount of privacy
• To respect confidential information obtained in the course of
one's duties always referring to the Care Manager who will facilitate
necessary information sharing.
5. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND SAFE DELIVERY OF CARE
• The post holder will keep up to date with company and service
developments.
• Attend all mandatory training
• Contribute to all clinical governance activity.
• Work as a member of the MDT
• Participate in staff meeting
• Participate in the appraisal process.
• Contribute to a positive company environment in which people
feel valued and motivated.
• To be responsible for communicating effectively both verbally
and in writing with other members of the MDT.
• To develop with their line manager a personal development plan
that builds upon a repertoire of established skills.
• To participate in an on going education process.
• To actively contribute to the maintenance of company standards
• To inform the Care manager / Nursing manager of any deficiencies
which may affect the maintenance of standards (including safety) of
staff or clients.
• To work at all times within the boundaries of the delegated
duties at no time undertaking procedures/ interventions that have not
been agreed by the Care Manager or nominated deputy.
• Contribute to reporting arrangements e.g. accident, complaints,
incident reporting.
• Be prepared to work flexibly in undertaking other duties as
required both within and outside of the designated service area.
6. INFORMATION MANAGEMENT:
• To, collect and store information, which is relevant to clinical
or Care management
• To make use of such information in decision making, problem
solving and care management.
7. HEALTH & SAFETY
With reference to Health & Safety legislation and local policies,
but particularly to:
1. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 / 1989
2. The Approved Code of Practice 1992.
3. Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
4. Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulation 1999
The employee must not only be aware of their individual responsibility,
but it is their duty to be active in their compliance to the requirements
of the Acts and Policies.
8. CONFIDENTIALITY
Many of the duties of this post are of a confidential nature and disciplinary
action will be taken if confidential information is divulged to inappropriate
persons.
9. DATA PROTECTION
This post carries a duty and responsibility under the Data Protection
Act 1984.
And in particular ensuring that Personal Data is not negligently or unlawfully
handled, nor disclosed to Unauthorised persons
In conjunction with these duties the post holder is obliged to comply
with the following requirements Caring Concern Codes of Practice and Policy
Documents.
All Staff are referred to Company policies regarding mutual obligation
between Caring Concern and its staff.
